soooo...i’ve lived in Japan 9 years and i’ve never worn a kimono. not even a yukata. it’s not that i don’t like them. i freaking love them. when i see people wearing them for festivals or events i try not to stare but they’re just gorgeous so...i probably fail 🤧
the reason i’ve never worn one myself is...honestly i was a little nervous about not doing it justice. i didn’t want to dive in and just throw one on, i definitely didn’t want to put one on by myself the first time!!! and as much as i admire them on others i didn’t think kimono would suit me.
but when my friend In Kimono, who’s training to be a certified kimono teacher, started up a kimono experience, i signed up.
she styled this beautiful kimono and talked me through the name and purpose of every layer. she told me about her own kimono experience and delved into the history of kimono. as a total nerd i enjoyed this immensely! she even did my hair to fit the look 🙏🏼 1/2
